6 Camping Activities To Do With Your Kids

Nature Art

Art and craft activities are the best when it comes to getting your kids to spend some time when they’re bored, and you can get them onto it even when you’re out camping. Use some of the best from nature- leaves, stones and even sticks, some paints, plain paper and let your kids get creative and try and experiment with different textures and play around with different techniques to create works of art.

Camp Cookout

Camp food is literally the best, and honestly, you don’t really have to do it all yourself. Get your kids to have a cookout and it’ll be fun activity to try as well! Preparing and making camp food can be enjoyable, especially if done together as a family. When packing for the camp though, stick to simple ingredients and keep the recipes that need minimal effort and have less chances of going wrong.

Plan a Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is another cool camping activity to try with your kids. Set a target of an area where your kids will be expected to find the hidden items, set clues that have them rack their brains or solve little puzzles, and make sure you even set some ground rules. This works best especially during times when you go camping with other families.

Spot & Discover

Being out in the open and close to nature is a refreshing feeling on its own, and your kids will already be excited. To take things up a notch, you can play a spot and discover game where you list down the items or things close to the campsite, create a list of them and have the kids hunt for those items- some of which they may not know. It will not just keep them busy but will also help them learn new things.

Good ‘Ol Hike

There’s nothing better than planning a short hike near the campsite with your kids- it helps them discover more about nature and can be a super enriching experience, to say the least. Try to research beforehand and pick a campsite that is close to short hiking or nature trails and you should be sorted.

Campfire Stories

There’s no better way to end the day with some nice campfire stories. Stick to good happy stories if you have younger kids who are likely to be spooked off easily, but yes, get on the creepy ones if you’re having teens or pre-teens along. There’s just something magical about hearing stories under the sky full of stars and with the flickering of the campfire.

Camping with kids can seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be! These tips for camping with kids will help make your trip a success.
