Stain Removal Is A Skill That Will Save Your Kids Money
I have to admit it, if there was a challenge to make a stain, I would ace that one. But stain removal … not so much. The only thing I do have is plenty of stains to practice on. Plus I have children who seem to get something on them multiple times a day. We are a messy family to say the least.
Well, there are lots of ways of removing stains and they vary depending on what the problem is. I have a sneaky suspicion that you already know some time-tested methods of eliminating nasty stains. But have you ever stopped to show your kids how to do it? I often assume they know a skill like stain removal until they can’t do it. Then I remember I never officially taught them. Please tell me I’m not alone.

First, get an old piece of carpet or an old shirt. If you don’t have any at home, carpet stores will usually give away scrap cuts. If you use a shirt, make sure it’s not your favorite one. We’re gonna practice on it.

Create a stain you often have to deal with. I am forever spilling ketchup on my shirt. I would recreate that!
-
Do some research. There are, of course, many resources out there with great information
-
Make sure you try any solution on the carpet/shirt in question in an area that will not be noticed. Some cleaning solutions can mildly stain the carpet/shirt.

Prepare an action plan for the next time there is a stain-making spill.
